Mumbai Metro: Train operators all set to start trial runs on lines 2A & 7 this month

Mumbai, May14: As the 20 km section of the Metro Line 2 A from Dahisar E to Andheri E and Line 7 from Dahisar to DN Nagar, Andheri is being spruced up for the trial run in initial stage starting from May end, the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation (MMMOCL) train operators are all set to take up the new job.
According to the MMMOCL, train operators and their trainers (Line Supervisor & SMs) have been given vital on job training about the specifications and operations of Catenary Maintenance Vehicle (CMV). They also underwent various brake like EBD (Emergency Braking Distance) tests at various speeds and driving tests at the Charkop Depotto get a better understanding. Coupling & uncoupling operation with train set also performed.

The much awaited Mithi River Clean Up project of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to begin only after May this year. As the installation work of the customised recycling plant made by a Finland based RiverRecycle company, likely to take place in the fourth week of May, only after overcoming the challenges of logistical, labour issues and avaibility of technical experts amid Covid-19 pandemic. Besides, custom clearance, site preparation by taking measurements, depth analysis about the flow of river and floating waste the said installation work will be completed and thereafter the cleaning work shall begin. The machine was dispatched from the foreign country in October 2020 and has already reached India in January this year, informed MMRDA.

Metropolitan commissioner RA Rajeev inspected the site near Mindspace. The land on which the facility will come up has been identified by the BMC.
A senior MMRDA official said, “Nearly 70 per cent of the beds installed will have oxygen facility. Also, there will be 200 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds to treat critical patients.”

Aaditya, who has recovered from the Covid-19 pandemic, took stock of the multiple projects being developed by MMRDA across Mumbai city especially in Mumbai suburban district.

Mumbai: MMRDA to construct 2,000-bed makeshift Covid hospital in Malad Mindspace
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will construct a 2,000 bed makeshift hospital in Malad s Mindspace area in one of the open grounds. It has received direction to build the big Covid care facility from the state government, following which on Tuesday RA Rajeev, MMRDA Commissioner along with other senior officials paid a site visit.
The open ground is nearly 40,000 sq.mtrs on which this Covid hospital will come up. Along with ample bed facility and ICU provision for the treatment of critical patients, it will also have waiting area, parking facility for ambulance and other vehicles. This vacant land parcel belongs to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), informed an MMRDA official.
