A day after announcing his death, officials identified him as New York native and U.S. Air Force Capt. Anthony J. Polizzi, 31. Officials said he collapsed while hiking the Moanalua Valley trail, and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Tripler Army Medical Center Tuesday. Polizzi was on the hike with a group of friends. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Capt. Anthony Polizzi,” said Col. Dan Dobbels, 15th Wing commander. “Our biggest priority is taking care of his family and supporting his fellow Wingmen. I appreciate the outpouring of support from our ohana.”
