Province Resources, an exploration company that revealed plans for the HyEnergy Project earlier this year, has signed a four-month memorandum of understanding with Total Eren to cooperate and proceed with the installation’s development. Set to be built in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia, the project will be equally owned by both partners and will be developed in two stages. The pair will now carry out a scoping study and aim to execute definitive agreements within the next four months.

WA miner joins hydrogen rush, plans 1GW of wind and solar

19 February 2021 Gold and nickel miner Province Resources has unveiled plans to build 1 gigawatt of wind and solar capacity in Western Australia, from which it plans to manufacturer green hydrogen. The planned site for the wind and solar farms is in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia, just south of Carnarvon. The miner says the region is ideal for both wind and solar generation, as it is the fourth windiest place in Australia and has 211 sunny days per year. It hopes the project, which it is calling HyEnergy, will make 60,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per annum, or up to 300,000 tonnes of green ammonia.

Australia-based exploration company Province Resources has revealed plans to develop a renewables-powered hydrogen plant that will feature 1GW of solar and wind generation. Dubbed the HyEnergy Project, the installation will be constructed in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia and produce around 60,000 tonnes of green hydrogen or up to 300,000 tonnes of green ammonia. The bulk of the energy will be used for large-scale production of green hydrogen products for both domestic and export markets, with a smaller proportion of generation capacity potentially dedicated to large energy users in the Pilbara region.
