Speaking during a dinner to mark his 70th anniversary at his residence in Asokoro, Abuja, recently, the former CJN said he was surprised at his sudden removal, noting that throughout his judicial career, he lived an upright life. Some of the dignitaries at the colourful dinner included Justice Mahmud Mohammed (retd); a former Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Kumai Akaahs; the Chief Judge of Borno State, Justice Kashim Zannah; President of Nigerian Bar Association; Chief Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) and Chief Rafiu Lawal-Rabana (SAN), among others.

Ondo Speaker bows to court order, reinstates suspended lawmakers On By Dayo Johnson, Akure The Ondo State House of Assembly has lifted the suspension order placed on four members of the Assembly barely 72 hours before the leadership of the Assembly would have been charged to Court for contempt. The four lawmakers include the former Deputy Speaker, Iroju Ogundeji, Favour Tomomewo, Adewinle Adewale Williams and Akinrindibo Leonard. The suspended lawmakers were amongst the nine that did not sign the impeachment notice serve the deputy governor, Hon Agboola Ajayi. Ondo Speaker, 3 others risk jail term over contempt of court On By Dayo Johnson The Speaker of the Ondo state House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Bamidele Oleyeloogun and three others would on December 17 this year be arraigned in court for contempt of court. This followed the service of form 49 (contempt of court committal) by the Ondo state High Court on them over their failure to obey the court’s order to reinstate four suspended lawmakers of the Assembly. Others served by the court include the Clerk Bode Adeyelu, Parliamentary Secretary, Hon Abayomi Akinruntan and the Deputy-Majority leader, Hon Oladiji Adesanmi.
