July 20, 2021 KARACHI:Additional Inspector General Farhat Junejo, head of internal accountability bureau of Sindh Police, has been appointed as Inquiry Officer by Sindh Inspector General Mushtaq Mahar, to investigate recovery of big quantities of drugs from Jamshoro Police officials. On July 18, 2021 (Sunday) six policemen of Jamshoro-based Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) were arrested in Clifton, Karachi along with the 76 kg of Charas found in the police mobile van they were travelling-in, by Pakistan Rangers, Sindh. According to sources, Pakistan Rangers, Sindh acting on intelligence information made the arrest, recovered a huge quantity of drugs and handed over the suspects to Police Station Boat Basin for further legal proceedings. Sources of the Sindh government informed ‘The News’ that Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Shah directed IGP Mahar to conduct impartial investigations into the alleged involvement of Police official Sarwar Rahpoto, brother of MNA Sikandar Rahp

Sukkur lawyers meet IGP Sindh July 19, 2021 SUKKUR: A delegation of lawyers in Sukkur, led by Sohail Memon, Aisha Dharejo, Rizwana Memon and Ali Akbar, met IGP Sindh Mushtaq Mahar on Sunday. During the meeting, the lawyers discussed the law and order situation in the city and issues faced by women in the name of ‘honour killing’.They said that ‘Karo Kari’, a shabby tradition, is a major issue faced by women, adding that this issue keeps on claiming lives of innocent women in the city and across Sindh.The lawyers expressed dissatisfaction over the role of police department. They said that the police have failed to take adequate measures to stop incidents of Karo Kari’ and arrest the culprits involved in this crime. They said that it is responsibility of the police to lodge an FIR against the culprits on behalf of the state in case on one is registering an FIR.
