COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A pedestrian is dead Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle in Columbus.
The incident happened at approximately 8:50 p.m. near the 5700 block of Veterans Parkway in Columbus, leaving the northbound section blocked at Whitesville Rd.
According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, 31-year-old Brian Blankenship Jr. was pronounced dead at Piedmont Columbus Regional at approximately 9:17 p.m.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - An early morning house fire has claimed the lives of two people.
According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, 69-year-old Margaret Jones and 48-year-old Tameka Smith were victims to the fire. A 13-year-old was injured and taken to the hospital.
The incident happened in the 3200 block of 6th Ave. in Columbus at approximately 4:30 a.m.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - An early morning house fire has claimed the life of a Columbus man.
According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, 69-year-old Joseph Walton was pronounced dead at 3:52 a.m.
The fire happened in the 2800 block of Hood Street. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
Walton’s body will be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations crime lab for an autopsy.
