(WTVM) - The Muscogee County Sheriff says they’re in the final transition phase of consolidating the marshal’s and sheriff’s Office. Columbus City Council voted Tuesday night to officially approve the consolidation and transition plans at a local level. The consolidation of the two offices went into effect on Jan. 1 this year and was recognized by the state. As of Tuesday night, this is recognized by local law. This means the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office has officially completed the final phase of consolidation with the marshal’s office.

Dec 30, 2020 Dec 30, 2020 The Oklahoma Highway Patrol ENDUI team will partner with law enforcement from across Oklahoma to make sure everyone has a safe New Year s Eve holiday. This effort is part of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization. Similar efforts will take place across the United States this holiday weekend. The goal is to make Oklahoma as safe as possible by getting impaired drivers off the roads. Additional deputies, troopers, and officers will be on duty across the state looking for impaired drivers. During the previous NYE holiday period, there were 148 crashes in Oklahoma. Two of those crashes were fatalities resulting in the deaths of two people. Of those 148 crashes, at least 24 of them were alcohol and-or drug-related. That is more than 16 percent of NYE crashes that involved a potentially impaired driver.

Frances McDaniel has no kids and has dedicated her life to being a 911 dispatcher for the Columbus Police Department. “All my dispatchers call me Mama Frances. I’m still Mama Frances,” McDaniel said. In McDaniel’s many years of being a 911 dispatcher, she says there are some calls she will never forget.

Local man pleads guilty to selling heroin

From staff reports Dec 22, 2020 The U.S. Attorney s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced a Tahlequah man has pleaded guilty after allegedly distributing heroin. An indictment alleged that in February 2019, Feather Cheyenne Pacheco, 24, intentionally distributed a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of heroin. The drug charge is punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment, up to a $1 million fine, or both. The charges arose from a probe by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the Muskogee County Sheriff s Office, the Muskogee Police Department, and the Tulsa County Sheriff s Office.
