Greece and Turkey to begin exploratory talks on January 25

The 61st first round of exploratory contacts between Greece and Turkey will start on January 25 in Constantinople (Κωνσταντινούπολη, Turkish: İstanbul), the Greek Foreign Ministry announced.
A few hours ago, the Turkish side contacted Greece and proposed that the 61st round of Exploratory Contacts take place in Istanbul on January 25, 2021.
Athens accepted the invitation.

However, this was a public statement rather than an official invitation from the Turkish Foreign Ministry, hence the delay in the invitation being accepted.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu complained that Greece and Cyprus are targeting Turkey, reiterating that Ankara wants to resolve differences in the region through dialogue whilst ignoring his country’s daily violations against Greeek airspace.
Commenting on developments in Libya on Monday, when tensions between the the Turks and the Libyan National Army are rising again, Çavuşoğlu also referred to disputes over maritime jurisdiction in the Eastern Mediterranean with Egypt, Greece, Cyprus and Israel.
He himself, responding immediately, reiterated that Turkey only talks with countries that maintain diplomatic relations, something that it does not happen with the Republic of Cyprus.
