Muslim body seeks end to dowries, lavish weddings in India All India Muslim Personal Law Board launches drive to educate members of community against social evils Photo: File/Anadolu Agency NEW DELHI,: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has released new guidelines for Muslims in the country with the aim of prohibiting dowries and extravagant marriages after a woman recently committed suicide due to “dowry harassment.” The guidelines are contained in a document released for Muslims to be signed and followed. The AIMPLB is widely regarded in India as the representative of Muslims in the country. The 11-point guidelines were released by AIMPLB Chairman Maulana Rabe Hasan Nadvi recently.
