Illustrative photo (Source: VNA) Bamboo Airways officially announced on April 28 its opening of new routes from the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, Da Lat city in the Central Highlands’ province of Lam Dong, and Thanh Hoa city in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa to Quy Nhon city in the south-central province of Binh Dinh. There will be five flights weekly on the Can Tho - Quy Nhon route, four on Da Lat - Quy Nhon, and three on Thanh Hoa - Quy Nhon. Quy Nhon’s Phu Cat Airport now hosts a total of seven routes, catering to 60 flights on a daily basis.

Bamboo Airways maintains top OTP and lowest flight delays and cancellations in April 10:28 | 27/04/2021 According to newly-released statistics by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Bamboo Airways has maintained its top spot in terms of on-time performance as well as lowest rate of flight delays and cancellations in the entire Vietnamese aviation industry in the first quarter. From March 19 to April 18, Bamboo Airways operated 96 per cent of its flights on time, preserving its leading position in punctuality amongst the three biggest airlines, as well as the country’s entire aviation industry. Vietjet Air and Vietnam Airlines ranked second and third with the on-time performance (OTP) rates of 93.3 and 91.1 per cent, respectively. Meanwhile, 90.6 per cent of Vietravel Airlines flights were on time, coming in at the fourth place. With the OTP rate of 87 per cent, Pacific Airlines ranked last.

Photo: Tuan Phung / Tuoi Tre A broken brake hose on a Vietnam Airlines plane is the latest causality in a series of incidents involving collisions between birds and aircraft in Vietnam.  Mechanics found that the brake hose of Vietnam Airlines’ A321 plane was damaged as it landed in north-central Thanh Hoa Province at 11:11 am on Wednesday morning, following its departiure from Da Lat City in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong. They also found a bird’s body stuck to the rear of the plane. The incident caused a delay of nearly four hours for the return flight from Thanh Hoa to Da Lat since Vietnam Airlines scrambled to find a substitute plane.
