That conviction was overturned in 2015 after the detectives who investigated the crime were accused of their own illegal activities. Prosecutors declined to try Ellis a fourth time. Despite that reversal, Ellis still had a single gun possession conviction on his record. Last Tuesday, a Suffolk Superior Court judge declared justice was not done in that case, either, and ordered a new trial.

Police arrested Emmanuel Maldonado in the area of 31 Woolson St. at about 11:54 a.m. on Friday, officials said. An arrest warrant was issued for Maldonado in Suffolk Superior Court in connection with the murder in Hyde Park. Maldonado faces charges of murder, assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition in the Dec. 13 slaying of Storlen Webster, 22, Boston police said in a statement.

© Getty Images The state of Massachusetts sued the subsidiary of a France-based advertising conglomerate over its alleged role in the opioid abuse crisis. A press release from Attorney General Maura Healey (D) indicated that a lawsuit filed by the state in Suffolk Superior Court accused Publicis Health, LLC, part of the Publicis Groupe, of partnering with Purdue Pharmaceuticals on marketing campaigns targeting doctors and urging them to prescribe more opioids to patients, downplaying the risks of the medications. “Responsibility for the opioid crisis runs across the industry, from Purdue and the Sacklers, to consultants and partners like McKinsey and Publicis,” said Healey in a statement. “Publicis convinced doctors to prescribe more OxyContin to more patients as the opioid epidemic was raging. As a result, patients in Massachusetts suffered, overdosed, and died, while Publicis collected tens of millions of dollars.”
