Gov Cuomo released a statement and said his team needs time to review the new CDC guidance. In New York, we have always relied on the facts and the science to guide us throughout the worst of this pandemic and in our successful reopening. We have received the newly revised guidance from the CDC regarding mask wearing and social distancing for those with vaccinations and are reviewing them in consultation with Dr. Zucker and our partners and health experts in surrounding states, Cuomo stated.
Many expected Cuomo to make an announcement about masks this weekend. However, the weekend flew by without Cuomo giving New Yorker s an update. His team simply said New York health officials are still reviewing the data.

MID-HUDSON – County executives across the Hudson Valley are urging Governor Cuomo to adopt the CDC’s guidance for fully vaccinated residents. That would allow those residents to take off their masks in many situations. The governor has said he is having the state’s own experts study the guidance before taking any action.
In a joint statement on Sunday from Rockland County Executive Ed Day, Dutchess Executive Marc Molinaro, Orange Executive Steve Neuhaus, Putnam Executive MaryEllen Odell, Ulster Executive Patrick Ryan and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, they said New York “needs to follow the science-backed guidance of the CDC.”
