WSU provost Rick Muma is now the university’s 15th president The Kansas Board of Regents has approved Dr. Richard Muma as the 15th president of Wichita State University.   The announcement was made Thursday at a Regents meeting in the Rhatigan Student Center on the WSU campus. Dr. Muma has served as provost since 2018 and he has served in a variety of roles at the university over the past 25 years, including professor, department chair, and Senior Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.   He has been interim president since last September. In his acceptance speech, Dr. Muma said he is very excited about the future of Wichita State, and he sees opportunities to move the university forward.    He said in the next few months he will be talking with students, faculty and staff about the future direction of the university.    He said he wants them to help keep Wichita State on a path to become a world-class urban public research university, “and it’s not built arou

Since our founding, many thousands of people associated with our university and health system have made an outsized impact on so many different areas of human endeavor, JHU President Ronald J. Those numbers showed 66.1% of white people were vaccinated, 8.6% of Hispanics and 7.6% of Black people have been vaccinated.  Those numbers are concerning to many because of how much more likely certain races are to die from Covid-19 complications. The CDC data shows th n at Black or African Americans are 2.9 times more likely to be hospitalized from Covid-19 complications and 1.9 times more likely to die when compared to their white counterparts. The numbers from American Indians and Hispanics are just as devastating.

Dr. Shannon Campbell will begin her new role as Senior Associate Vice President for Coastal Operations on March 1. In this new position, Campbell will serve as the lead administrative officer for the university’s coastal operations and will be part of USM’s senior leadership team. She will plan, develop and coordinate all administrative proceedings for a wide range of activities, programs and services that enhance the quality of student life at the university, and she will serve as the lead strategist and relationship builder for coastal initiatives. “Dr. Campbell has a deep understanding of the State of Mississippi and has spent decades cultivating rich relationships with community partners,” said USM President Dr. Rodney D. Bennett. “I am confident her strong ties across our state will elevate and further enhance the university’s coastal operations, which remain a key component in our larger vision to be the model for public higher education across the country.”
