100-bed facility to be set up in Malir to isolate Covid-19 patients coming from abroad

July 29, 2021 The Sindh government has decided to establish a 100-bed isolation facility in District Malir to properly isolate those air passengers coming to the Karachi airport from abroad who are diagnosed with coronavirus infection. The decision to this effect was reached on Wednesday at a top-level meeting held at the Sindh Secretariat with Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah in chair. The chief secretary asked the Karachi commissioner and Malir deputy commissioner to establish a 100-bed isolation facility for the coronavirus patients among the air travellers coming to Karachi from abroad. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority in Sindh would provide all the necessary facilities for the purpose.

No new tax imposed as KMC approves budget of Rs26 billion June 30, 2021 The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has approved a budget of Rs25,982.414 million for the next financial year with a surplus of Rs11.947 million, as the expenditures are estimated at Rs25,970.467 million. Karachi Administrator Laeeq Ahmed on Tuesday approved the budget using the powers of the city council under the notification of the Sindh government. No new tax has been imposed. The administrator said that for the next financial year, priority was given to those development schemes which were in the interest of the public. “Non-development schemes are kept to a minimum; new and ongoing projects of roads, gardens, playgrounds and sports complexes have been added to improve the infrastructure of Karachi.”

KMC signs MoU with welfare organisations for improvement of graveyards Karachi May 6, 2021 The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has formed a central committee and subcommittees to improve the condition of cemeteries, end monopoly of graveyard mafia and facilitate the process of burials. The cooperation and collaboration of civil society, and social and welfare organisations has also been [ensured] so that the complaints of the citizens regarding the cemeteries can be resolved, KMC Administrator Laeeq Ahmed said during the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Sailani Welfare Trust and Jaffaria Disaster Management Cell (JDC) Welfare Foundation for the management of new cemeteries.
