Punch Newspapers Sections Bola Bamigbola, Osogbo PROTESTING workers of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, for several hours on Wednesday shut all entries and exits to the campus of the institution, demanding payment of hazard allowance to members, by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Eyitope Ogunmodede. The Chairman of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, OAU branch, Ademola Oketunde, had on Monday, said the university workers had given the management a 24-hour ultimatum to pay them hazard allowance from a sum of money released to it by the Federal Government. Oketunde said unions of non-academic staff had started negotiation with the Vice Chancellor over the issue and urged him to use the Earned Allowance released to the university for the payment of hazard allowance of staff.
