Members of the 1990 class of the Government College Ibadan (GCI) have reiterated their commitment to the development of their alma mater.
Speaking at the gala night organised to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the graduation of the set, the chairman, anniversary planning committee, Mr Adedayo Mustapha, said he and his colleagues were committed to the development of their former school, hence the donation of N500,000 towards the school’s perimeter fence project and N350,000 for the school’s back gate project (Old Principal’s house).

The National President of Nigeria Cassava Growers Association (NCGA), Pastor Segun Adewumi has said that following the fear of herdsmen attack, most farmer leaders now go to farms with police escorts.
He said the situation has deteriorated that most farmers have abandoned their farms despite collecting loans to set up the farms.
Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, Pastor Adewumi said he has been receiving several reports of attack on his members by suspected Fulani herdsmen while on their farms.
He said they are in talks with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for an additional funding for farmers to provide security for their farms.

Seven officials of the Non-Academic Staff Union and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, were invited for questioning by the Department of State Services (DSS) over the ongoing nationwide strike by the body.
The officials arrested by the DSS included the National Financial Secretary of SSANU, M. J. Akanbi; branch Secretary of SSANU, T. M. Saheed; branch Secretary of NASU, Flourish Josephine; Kwara State Council State Secretary of NASU, Com. Owoeye as well as Idris Alata and Adejumo Olusola, stakeholders of NASU and SSANU respectively.

The Zamfara State police command has repelled bandits attack, recovered 14 motorcycles, military uniforms and bomb along Tsafe-funtua road in the state.
Addressing newsmen, on Tuesday, at the police command headquarters in Gusau, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Abuto Yaro, said bandits have no place to stay in Zamfara.
“A distress call was received by the DPO Tsafe Division that, armed Bandits numbering about hundreds blocked Tsafe – Funtua Road with intend to rob innocent commuters.”
According to him, the DPO mobilised a combined team of Special Forces and Conventional Policemen to the scene and they engaged the bandits.
