44-year-old Troy Dufour died Sunday night after Lafayette Police say he tried to cross the Evangeline Thruway and was hit by a vehicle traveling north on the roadway. And reports about the incident being a Hit & Run were false. According to a press release, Lafayette Police Department spokesperson Senior Corporal Bridgette Dugas says it happened around 8 PM in the 1000 block of the Thruway. Dugas says Dufour was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Cpl. Dugas says the driver of the vehicle was found near the scene in the parking lot of a business shortly after police got to the scene and did not drive away like witnesses falsely stated.
