Water police have joined in searches in the southern parts of the Sunshine Coast for a man described as “violent and dangerous” and potentially still armed with a machete.
We allege that in his position as a project manager over the last 12 month period, he received $70,000 worth of product and subcontractor work at his own private premises, which he wasn t entitled to, Detective Senior Sergeant Edwards said. He said the alleged offence was reported to police after company audits. At this stage (the charge) is fraud, with a circumstance of aggravation due to the nature of the amount, he said. We allege it s over $70,000 worth of product and labour being used. Vantage Building Group have been responsible for constructing some of the region s high profile developments including the $16m project Essence of Cotton Tree, the $7.6m Buderim Central and the $3m Plaza One development.

Subscriber only A robber who donned a full chemical suit before spraying Coast pharmacy staff with a suspicious liquid and threatening them with a bomb has eluded police for the six years since the shocking crime. The man entered the Twin Waters Pharmacy on Ocean Dr in a hazmat suit about 12.15pm on January 15, 2015 and yelled that he was carrying rat poison and a bomb. The offender spent 40 minutes at the Twin Waters shopping centre before he committed the crime. At the time detectives said they are very concerned that the wanted man was still at large. Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Daren Edwards this week said police were unable to identify the man.
A Sunshine Coast woman is facing fraud and forgery charges, after she allegedly preyed on vulnerable people desperate to secure a rental property, convincing them to pay thousands of dollars to secure a fake lease on a property.
He said police found a three mobile phones and a black plastic lockbox inside the vehicle. Inside the lockbox, police located a large parcel wrapped in black plastic which contained a quantity of crystals, later found to weigh approximately 268g, Sen-Sgt Edwards said. Further to this, police located two plastic clip seal bags containing a quantity of crystals, later found to weigh 85g and 58g respectively. Presumptive testing of the contents identified it as methamphetamine. Sen-Sgt Edwards said the total weight of methamphetamine was 411g and said the haul had a potential street value of $300,000. He said police also found two plastic clip seal bags containing square blue tablets, each weighing about 41g, later identified as MDMA.
