Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is recruiting a full-time Internal Communications Officer to join its communications team and help deliver a comprehensive service to communities, staff and stakeholders.
The role involves leading internal communications and staff engagement initiatives, working alongside team members and colleagues across the organisation.
Your main duties will include keeping people well informed of news, projects, events, and other service activity, and providing opportunities for them to share their views and ideas using a variety of channels.
Using insight and analytics you will deliver creative internal campaigns, evaluate results, and ensure delivery on objectives. You will also consult with colleagues in a wide range of roles and use feedback to recommend new initiatives. Communicating during emergencies is also part of this varied role

My first job
I babysat a family of four kids across the street from where I grew up in Montréal. They were all under the age of eight, and I think I was 12 at the time? Let s just say the age gap was not very large. Looking back, it was a lesson in inspirational leadership. How do you move people to want to follow suit, see the vision that you have, and want to be a part of it? Not because they’re told to, but because you’re painting something that they really believe in and are excited about. I still believe in that as a philosophy.
The African Union and the African Risk Capacity Group launch the Gender and Disaster Risk Management Platform

Johannesburg, May 11, 2021 – To ensure the integration of Gender equality and women
empowerment issues in the disaster risk management (DRM) landscape, the African Union (AU) and
the African Risk Capacity (ARC), have launched the Gender and Disaster Risk Management (DRM)
platform. The new platform is expected to contribute to the development and management of
knowledge on the issues of gender and DRM in the continent. The launch took place today through a
virtual ceremony attended by both institutions.
