The American Bar Association Center for Human Rights (ABA CHR) is seeking an experience staff attorney to join its Justice Defenders Program. Candidates with substantial experience working on issues pertaining to human rights in Middle East and North Africa (MENA) are encouraged to apply.
1) Background
The Justice Defenders Program provides pro bono legal assistance to human rights advocates working in difficult environments and vulnerable circumstances by:
• Advising on, and raising public awareness of, sensitive trials and cases;
• Connecting pro bono lawyers with requisite expertise with local lawyers to provide advice on international law standards, share best practices, and assist in developing advocacy and litigation strategies; and
Empowering Local partners to improve their organizational capacity in South Sudan

30th April 2021 - Juba: Save the Children in collaboration with NGO Forum-Support Effective Humanitarian Partnership has developed a platform to strengthen the capacity of local NGOs in South Sudan. The platform dubbed “Kaya” is to close management gaps.
Support Effective Humanitarian Partnership (SEHP) South Sudan targets 400 Members by the end of 2021. Currently 40 local staffs have been trained as Trainers of Trainees (ToT). They are expected to train 10 staff from their respective organizations.
One of the participants, Sister Reena, Nurse and Project Coordinator of Mary Health Association said she learned competency framework and importance of how to design work plan. PITB and S&IT Department Sign Agreement to Promote Freelancing Training in Balochistan
In a ceremony held at Arfa Software Technology Park on May 5, 2021, an agreement was signed between the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Science and IT (S&IT) Department of Balochistan to set up ‘DIGIBIZZ Freelancing & Entrepreneurship Program’ in Balochistan.
The agreement was signed by PITB DG e-Governance Sajid Latif and DG S&IT Irfan Nawaz Memon. Officials from both organizations attended this ceremony including Director IT Trainings S&IT Jawad Ahmad, Senior Program Manager PITB Ahmad Islam, and the freelancing wing of PITB.
A project of S&IT to train the youth of Balochistan in Freelancing, the initiative will be executed in collaboration with PITB. The project will commence with the provision of freelancing training to over 2000 students across the province.
