The House of Representatives on Thursday approved the 2020 budget of N453.2 billion for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for the period ending March 31, 2021.
The approval was sequel to the consideration and adoption of the report of the House Committee on NDDC by the Committee of Supply at plenary, which was presented by NDDC Chairman, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Out of the N453.200 billion, N27.389 billion is for Personnel Expenditure, N13.937 billion is for Overhead Expenditure, N2.793 billion is for Internal Capital and N409.080 billion is for Development Projects.
A further breakdown of the budget showed that the sum of N27.389 billion is for Personnel Expenditure; the sum of N13,937,244,107 is for Overhead Expenditure; while the sum of N2,793,755,893 is for Internal Capital, N409.080 billion is for Development Projects for the period ending on 31 March 2021.

The Board of Trustees of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund has approved an increase of the national research fund from N7.5 billion to the tune of N8.5 billion in 2021.
The organisation also announced a total of N5 billion in special intervention to the University of Lagos to be captured in the 2021 budget.
The Chairman, TETFund Board of Trustees, Alhaji Kashim Imam, said these in Abuja on Thursday during a two-day capacity-building workshop for heads of beneficiary institutions and staff of TETFund centres of excellence.
According to him, the intervention for UNILAG which was on the orders of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was also carried out in the University of Abuja in 2020.
Chairman, TETFund Board of Trustees, Alhaji Kashim Imam, disclosed this at a two-day capacity building workshop for heads of beneficiary institutions and staff of TETFund centres of excellence, in Abuja.
Imam said the intervention to UNILAG, which was on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari, was also carried out in University of Abuja in 2020.
He stressed the importance of research as a prerequisite for national development, adding that no nation can develop without research.
He, however, noted that research was a very delicate balance for TETFund as it is invisible, adding that as a politician, development is counted in terms of physical infrastructures such as raids, bridges, among others.
