Almost half of the nurse refresher course scholarships funded by the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma are still available to nurses who want to return to the field or enter it for the first time.
Each $2,000 scholarship will pay for the course for a nurse who does not have an active license but who wants to return to work or who never took the board exams.
The statewide nurse refresher course is part of a partnership between the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing and the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education. Ten Oklahoma CareerTech technology centers offer the course.

Five rotary clubs in Cleveland County have teamed up to provide boxed lunches and other refreshments for healthcare workers giving vaccinations Monday.
Sooner Rotary Club, Cross Timbers Rotary Club, Norman Rotary Club, Legacy Rotary Club and Moore Rotary Club have pooled cash and in-kind donations in an attempt to show appreciation for healthcare workers.
Joan Barker, volunteer with the Sooner Rotary Club, said the group thought it was important to organize the service on a day in which many educators will receive their COVID-19 vaccine.
The state will officially open vaccinations to teachers, school staff and Oklahomans under 65 with comorbidities on Monday. The Cleveland County Health Department, IMMYLabs and OU Health Services will host a mega vaccination clinic at Normanâs Embassy Suites Monday to vaccinate approximately 10,000 Oklahomans with their prime dose.
Henry Dumas, Moore Norman Technology Center Small Business Management coordinator, has earned the Master Certified Coach (MCC) title through the International Coaching Federation.
Dumas has worked with business owners, developed teams and coached individuals for eight years at Moore Norman Technology Center. He said the MCC is a certification that only 4% of business coaches hold worldwide. There are now 30,079 coaches in 130 countries and territories who hold one of three International Coaching Federation credentials and of that number 1,235 are MCCs.
“This is a designation I have been working on for about five years; it is a very rigorous process," Dumas said.
