Leon County now has broken through the 250 mark for number of local deaths caused by the virus and confirmed by the Florida Department of Health.
Four more Leon County residents have died because of COVID-19, the state health department confirmed on Monday. This includes two deaths that were recorded over the weekend.
To date, 252 locals have died because of the virus, according to state data. Specific details, including the ages of the individuals, were not immediately available Monday.
Leon has a total of 26,552 cumulative confirmed COVID-19 cases, according to state data. The county s two-week positivity rate is roughly 7.6%.
One Wakulla County resident also has died because of the virus, the state health department reported. Wakulla County has a total of 43 deaths caused by the virus.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â Cases in Leon County have been on a steady decline since Jan. 17, where we saw the percentage of positive cases hit 9.34.
That number is down to 8.53 percent. Now local health experts feel the county is on the right track to see those numbers continue to drop.
Currently, 110 people are in Leon County hospitals according to the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration. The hospital ICU bed capacity is at 6.9 percent.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â Two out of 10 deaths in Florida are due to heart disease according to the Florida Department of Health.
Cardiologists say it s important to know your risk factors, such as family history, other illnesses, and obesity. In minority communities, there s a greater risk for heart disease. That s because many minority communities experience those risk factors such as hypertension and diabetes. They re also more likely to live in a place with poor access to healthcare.
The pharmacist said the projected timing of the first shipment could be sometime next week.
Walmart and Sam s Club are receiving federal COVID-19 vaccine allocations as part of the U.S. Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, a collaboration between the federal government, states and territories and 21 national pharmacy partners, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Other pharmacy partners include Publix, Costco, Walgreens and Southeastern Grocers, according to the CDC. Publix also is not yet distributing vaccines in Leon County, according to the store s website.

QUINCY, Fla. (WTXL) â On Friday, Gadsden County Health Department officials announced new times for their no-appointment COVID-19 testing site.
The testing site, located at Capital Regional Medical Center s Gadsden Campus at 23186 Blue Star Hwy in Quincy, will now be open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
This site is for those who are asymptomatic or symptomatic, no appointments needed.
Those coming to be tested are asked to enter at the back of the hospital from Strong Road.
Face masks or coverings will be required upon arrival, Gadsden-DOH said.
