2021 Candidate Profile: Janie Dretler For Sudbury Select Board

Subscribe I am proud to say that service to the country and community runs deep in my family – my father served in the U.S. Air Force and both of my grandfathers in the U.S. Navy. I learned there are no shortcuts to hard work, responsibility, and commitment. As a 17-year Sudbury resident, with two children in the Sudbury Public School system, I know our community well, observing over time both challenges and positive change. During these past three years on the Select Board, and now as Board Chair, it is my priority to make sure there is equity for all residents, focusing on a safe environment and improved quality of life, and moving projects and policies forward in a fiscally responsible way.

Roubik Golanian Named Glendale City Manager

GLENDALE At its regular meeting on March 9, the Glendale City Council appointed Roubik Golanian as Glendale City Manager, effective immediately. Having started his career with the City of Glendale in September 2000, Roubik has served in several progressively responsible positions, including Senior Civil Engineer, City Engineer, Deputy Director of Public Works, Director of Public Works, and Assistant City Manager. Prior to his appointment, Roubik has served as Glendale’s Interim City Manager since October 2020 In his capacity as Glendale’s Assistant City Manager, Roubik performed as the City’s Chief Operating Officer, overseeing over 1,500 employees across 15 different departments.  Additionally, he has been responsible for City-wide budget oversight, the Capital Improvement Program, labor and employee relations, and policy management.  Since assuming the City’s Interim City Manager’s role, Mr. Golanian has been instrumental in managing the ever-changing dynamics of th

(WWBT) - Chesterfield’s county administrator presented a proposed $806.8 million fiscal year 2022 general fund budget to the Board of Supervisors on Wednesday. “We know this pandemic has been especially hard for families and businesses across Chesterfield,” said Chesterfield County Administrator Dr. Joe Casey. “With that in mind, this proposed budget aims to ensure that we continue to deliver services that maintain the high quality of life our residents expect of their government, while leveraging new and improved tax relief measures to help residents and businesses navigate through these difficult times.”

Metro Fast-Tracking Repairs on Yellow Line Bridge and Tunnels

(Update 4:25 p.m.) Metro is fast-tracking repairs on the Yellow Line bridge and tunnels. The transit agency is preparing for a major capital project to rehab the 3,000-foot-long Yellow Line bridge that crosses over the Potomac River, connecting D.C. to Arlington. Upgrades will also be made to the fire suppression system on the bridge which is, as the release notes, “beyond its useful life.” Additionally, the steel-lined tunnels connecting the Pentagon Metro station to the bridge and the bridge to L’Enfant Plaza station will be repaired. Both the bridge and tunnels date to Metro’s original construction more than 40 years ago.
