Sri Lanka is making a significant step to increase the share of locally-sourced raw materials in clothing made in the country by setting up a new fabric processing park.
Located at Eravur, Batticaloa, in the country s Eastern Province, the park is being funded by the government s investment promotion agency, the Board of Investment (BOI), with construction beginning in the first week of February.
Yohan Lawrence, former chairman of the Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association, told just-style that there are already three to four investors, including apparel manufacturers, holding talks with the BOI about moving to the park.
