The life rings were installed by the Ottawa Drowning Prevention Coalition, which has teamed up with Ottawa police, fire and paramedics in a water safety campaign.

El Paso Fire Department, Border Patrol rescue woman from canal

A woman was rescued from a Lower Valley canal late Thursday night, the El Paso Fire Department said. The Fire Department’s water rescue team and U.S. Border Patrol agents rescued the woman at about 11 p.m. Thursday from a canal near Yarbrough Drive and the César Chávez Border Highway, officials said. The woman was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, officials said. No other injuries were reported. No further information has been released.
