Community Activists Team With Health Department to Offer Door-to-Door COVID Shots July 12, 2021 CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Community activists are working to increase the vaccination rate in our area. Mecklenburg County’s vaccination rate remains at 49 percent. But in some zip codes, it’s less than 25 percent. Action NC is now partnering with the Mecklenburg County Health Department to go door-to-door offering COVID shots. “Ask if we can count on them to get vaccinated, if the answer is yes, we’d say, ‘We have someone who can vaccinate you right here today,” explains Robert Dawkins, with Action NC. But not everyone agrees with the approach.
