Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives have charged a second suspect in connection to a deadly shooting that happened near the UNC Charlotte campus in early November.
After a continued investigation, police identified 22-year-old Azariel Araque as a suspect in the Xavier Adams homicide case and warrants were issued for his arrest.
Police say Araque was arrested Tuesday in Lexington, North Carolina, with the assistance of CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT).
Following an interview, Araque was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Murder, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Accessory After the Fact to Murder, according to CMPD.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. A man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter following a fatal crash in east Charlotte, The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department reports.
According to police, the crash happened Wednesday evening near the 3900 block of North Sharon Amity Road.
Police said when they arrived on the scene, they located a 2005 GMC Yukon, 2003 Mitsubishi Galant and 2014 Ford Focus, all of which had been involved in the collision.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. An employee of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has been arrested for driving while impaired, according to CMPD.
Sheree Padgett, 34, has been an employee with the department since June 2016 and is assigned to the Records Management Division.
It happened Tuesday around 9:20 a.m. A CMPD officer noticed a car that was being driving erratically, and conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East 7th Street and North McDowell Street.
