A Las Cruces man allegedly told police that he killed a man Saturday because he believed the man played a part in his son’s death.
Santiago Rascon, 71, is charged with first-degree murder and two counts of tampering with evidence.
Rascon allegedly admitted to fatally shooting Edgar Segovia, 29, while Segovia sat in a vehicle in the 4100 block of Broadview Road.
Las Cruces police were called to the scene about 11 a.m., where they found Segovia – a 2020 New Mexico State University graduate – lying on the driveway in front of a sports utility vehicle. Court documents indicate Segovia sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including to the upper, right side of his body.
