NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â In a time when many families struggle with food insecurity, Vanderbilt University medical student Stephanie Hart wanted to find a way to help. That s why she brought the idea of community refrigerators to the mayor s office. Which then talked to Community Achieves through Metro Nashville Public Schools and we are a Community Achieve school, said Cole Elementary School principal Chad Hedgepath.
As a Community Achieves school, Cole Elementary focuses on the needs of students beyond the classroom making it the perfect location for this new idea, according to Hedgepath. CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System is one of a few districts in Tennessee that will be allowed to vaccinate their own teachers. We believe that we can get on top of this and be a major part of the solution, said CMCSS Director of Schools Millard House.
The state has given them permission because Montgomery County has multiple clinics around the area, designated for county employees, which includes teachers. We have 5 clinics that we run that is a huge, huge advantage for our employees. I use the clinic myself, said House.

Tennessee is set to receive more than $1.1 billion in new federal funding for K-12 education through Congress latest $900 billion coronavirus relief package.
Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos announced Tuesday that more than $54 billion in emergency relief funding is now available to states and schools through the legislation, signed into law by President Donald Trump last week.
DeVos is also strongly urging states and educators to use the funding to fully reopen K-12 schools in-person and to take immediate action to address the unprecedented learning loss caused by a lack of in-person school, the education secretary said in a strongly worded letter to state education commissioners Tuesday.
