Ministry of Defence , Bharat Electronics Limited sign contract worth over Rs 1,000 crore to procure modern radio system ANI | Updated: Feb 09, 2021 05:25 IST
New Delhi [India], February 9 (ANI): Ministry of Defence and defence public sector undertaking Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) on Monday signed a contract for procurement of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) developed Software Defined Radio Tactical (SDR-Tac) worth over Rs 1,000 crore here.
In an official release, Ministry of Defence said that the SDR-Tac, jointly designed and developed by Defence Electronics Applications Laboratory (DEAL) of DRDO through a consortium of domestic agencies and industry, comprising Weapons and Electronics Systems Engineering Establishment (WESEE), BEL, Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) and Indian Navy will bring strategic depth to the Armed Forces.
For supply of SDR-TacBharat Electronics and Ministry of Defence have signed a contract for procurement of Software Defined Radio Tactical (SDR-Tac) worth Rs 1000 crore on 08 February 2021.
The SDR-Tac, jointly designed and developed by Defence Electronics Applications Laboratory (DEAL) of Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) through a consortium of domestic agencies and industry (Comprising Weapons and Electronics Systems Engineering Establishment (WESEE), Bharat Electronics, Centre for
Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (CAIR) and Indian Navy) will bring strategic depth to the Indian Navy.
The delivery will take place within three years. BEL is already supplying SDR Naval Combat (NC) version and SDR-Air is under user evaluation trial. DRDO and BEL are

The SDR-Tac, designed and developed by Defence Electronics Applications Laboratory of Defence Research & Development Organisation through a consortium of domestic agencies and industry (Comprising Weapons and Electronics Systems Engineering Establishment, Bharat Electronics Limited, Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics and Indian Navy). The company, in a regulatory filing, said, “The delivery will be within three years. BEL is supplying SDRNaval Combat version and SDR-Air is under user evaluation trial. DRDO and BEL will provide the latest SDR to the Indian Navy.”

The SDR-Tac, jointly designed and developed by Defence Electronics Applications Laboratory (DEAL) of Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) through a consortium of domestic agencies and industry, comprising Weapons and Electronics Systems Engineering Establishment (WESEE), BEL, Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (CAIR) and Indian Navy will bring strategic depth to the Armed Forces. The delivery will take place within three years. The BEL is already supplying SDR-Naval Combat (NC) and SDR-Air is under user evaluation trial. The DRDO and BEL are planning to provide latest SDR with security grading to the Armed Forces.
