A DRUG-FUELLED burglar knocked a man unconscious with a hammer before himself falling asleep in his victim s house. Police officers found Ian Curtis sleeping in an upstairs bedroom after his injured victim managed to escape and call for help. South Wales Police described Curtis attack as a horrific and cruel crime, the kind of which is extremely rare . Curtis, 48, pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary and was jailed for 11 years and 8 months at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Monday, January 22. On the night of the attack, Curtis had smashed a patio door to gain entry to his 66 year-old victim’s house.
