Medalta is pleased to present the inaugural virtual exhibitions of the Medalta International Artist in Residence Program for 2020/2021. The four artists have spent the last year preparing for the event, unfazed by the Covid-19 Pandemic’s uncertainties. These artists usually travel from all over the world to participate in the programme, but travel limitations this year made that more difficult.
Amy Duval, Carmen Belanger, Julie-Claude Vezeau-Croteau, and Yvonne Kustec have all created Virtual Tours for their exhibitions. Until July 3rd, the following concerts can be viewed in 3D on Medalta’s website, along with more information about each artist and their shows.
I was looking for my roots, for a connection to my heritage. My late father was a Holocaust survivor and I was investigating his life before the Nazi invasion when the pandemic closed many archives down. But I kept researching online and when Europe started opening up again in the spring, I arranged for us all to visit the Polish town of Nowy Sącz on a virtual tour.
Neither my children nor their significant others had ever met my father or knew of his world. But, at their upcoming wedding, my son and daughter-in-law will get married in my father’s tallit, so it felt like an especially good time to share my passion and show them all their links to our past. To help with the historical context, an expert guide would take us around the town where two Hasidic dynasties were founded (Sanz and Bobov) and, crucially for me, where my father grew up.

(Warrenton, Oregon) – A big favorite on the north Oregon coast is shut down until further notice. Some of the popular attractions at the South Jetty at Warrenton’s Fort Stevens State Park – including the viewing tower – are closed because of work being done on the jetty.

According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which is conducting the work, the South Jetty is being rehabilitated, which entails large construction equipment is sometimes-dangerous conditions. Because of this, part the lot C of the jetty area has been shut down since late April and will be until further notice , which includes the observation tower, the beach surrounding the jetty
