5 people, including 17-year-old, arrested for armed robberies at Hamden stores

Updated: 4:14 PM EST February 8, 2021 HAMDEN, Conn. Police say four men and a teen are behind bars after two armed robberies occurred early Monday morning. Officers responded to the Citgo on State Street shortly after 1 a.m. for the report of an armed robbery.  They learned that three men with guns approached two store employees emptying the trash, ordered them back into the store and demanded money. According to reports, two gunmen “placed the barrel of their handguns to the head of one of the employees, as he emptied the cash drawer. Police say the three men, wearing masks, ran from the scene towards Franklin Road. Not even an hour later, officers responded to Krauszer’s Food Store on Whitney Avenue for the report of three armed gunmen entering the store with “guns drawn.”

Three people robbed a gas station as well as a convenience store in Hamden early Sunday morning and held guns to the heads of employees, according to police. Police said officers responded to the Citgo Gas Station at 1978 State St. at 1:14 a.m. Sunday to investigate reports of an armed robbery and learned that three people with guns approached two store employees as they were emptying the trash, ordered them back into the store and demanded money.

Both were taken into custody in New Haven and taken back to Wallingford.

He was arrested after crashing his car on Monday.  Steven Womber, 43, of 119 Division St., Waterbury, was charged with not having a pistol permit, weapon in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree threatening, unlawful restraint, second-degree reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, interfering with police, possession of marijuana, reckless driving and engaging police in pursuit.

Police: Man driving wrong way near Meriden police station found with gun Police: Man driving wrong way near Meriden police station found with gun Meriden Police Department. | File photo February 03, 2021 03:53PM By Lauren Sellew, Record-Journal staff MERIDEN — A New Hampshire man faces charges after police said he was found with a loaded gun after he drove the wrong way down a one-way street near the police station.  Dylan Martinez, 35, of 42 Lock St., Nashua, New Hampshire, was charged Monday with weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit and driving the wrong way.  The incident began Monday around 1:10 a.m. when Lt. Christopher Fry pulled over a car that Martinez was driving the wrong way behind the police station on Hanover Avenue, according to a police report. Martinez said he was headed home from his cousin’s house and became lost.
