An official agreement for collaboration between l’ Association de vitrerie et fenestration du Quebec (AVFQ) and the Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) has been finalized, allowing for the development of mutual synergies that will enable both organizations to best support their respective members. Amy Roberts Joins FGIA as Director of Canadian and Technical Glass Operations

February 1, 2021 The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance hired Amy Roberts as its new director of Canadian and technical glass operations. Roberts will be training with Marg Webb, FGIA glass products and Canadian industry affairs director, prior to Webb s retirement later in 2021. Roberts has more than 20 years of industry experience in both residential and commercial window manufacturing, as well as glass and insulating glass manufacturing, according to an FGIA statement. Amy has experience as a technical committee and board member at the Fenestration Association of BC as well as within the market transformation committee in Canada, says Janice Yglesias, FGIA executive director. Her sales background supports strong customer service and interpersonal skills and her intense interest in the technical performance standard requirements and code development aspects of our industry make her an excellent fit for this position. We are thrilled to welcome Amy to FGIA.

FGIA Webinar to Provide Updates to Tornado, Hurricane Storm Shelter Standard

January 25, 2021 Stammen The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance will host a webinar entitled “ICC 500-2020: Updates to the Tornado and Hurricane Storm Shelter Standard” on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 11:30 a.m. Eastern. This webinar will provide an overview of the changes made to the newest edition of ICC 500 storm shelter requirements. The ICC 500 Committee worked over the last two and a half years to complete the 2020 edition, as well as updates to the standard commentary. The standard was last updated and released in 2014. “Webinar participants will also receive an update on the activities of the FGIA ICC 500 Monitoring Work Group, which was formed to monitor the progression and changes to this standard that could affect FGIA member companies,” says presenter Dave Stammen, principal engineer for the Building Science Group at UL LLC and chair of the work group.
