Local author, photographer, and birder Don Reimer will share photos and discuss his new book
Seen Anything Good? in an online webinar hosted by Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, August 3, at 12 p.m.
“On encountering fellow birders in the field, a queried expression is commonly heard: ‘Seen anything good?’” writes Reimer. “That, of course, depends on our expectations for the day, and our personal definitions of what constitutes a ‘good’ bird. Blue jays are common enough here in Maine, but would be a hotline bird in California.”
Reimer will relay knowledge and stories from six decades of birding in Maine, about his new book, and beyond in this engaging and fun presentation, as well as answer birding questions from the audience, according to Merryspring, in a news release.

CAMDEN Merryspring Nature Center will host a summer tree identification walk as part of its Free Family Fridays series on Friday, August 6, at 10 a.m.
“Tree identification can seem daunting to newcomers,” said Merryspring, in a news release. “Thankfully, there are a few tips and tricks that anybody can understand to better identify Maine’s trees and shrubs.”
This walk for all ages will introduce beginners to identifying common backyard trees by both their leaves and bark.
In the event of heavy rain this program will be canceled.
Free Family Fridays will take place weekly at Merryspring, on Fridays, at 10 a.m., between July 2 and August 20.
