Ketchikan’s school board is set to recognize the work of a high school teacher who has made world peace an integral part of her lesson plans.
The U.S. Institute of Peace chose English teacher Sarah Campbell to participate in their 2019 Peace Teachers Program. She discussed her work at a virtual event sponsored by the Congressionally-funded nonpartisan institution last week.
“Being part of this program has been tremendous and really given me the knowledge and the confidence to bring peace education into my curriculum at Ketchikan High School,” Campbell said.

Washington stakeholders discuss audio-only telemedicine rules

The Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) held a stakeholder meeting on new rules requiring health plans to reimburse for audio-only telemedicine services on July 12.
Stakeholders voiced concerns over language in ESHB 1196 particularly relating to what they felt could be restrictions on where services could be provided, and who could be reimbursed for providing them.
Don Downing, a University of Washington pharmacy professor and representative of the Washington State Pharmacy Association, said language in the bill made it confusing as to where the patient would be allowed to access telemedicine from.

Queensland’s resource communities can apply for funding for infrastructure projects that will benefit the community and the regional workers and their families that live in those communities.
Applications open today for project funding under the Palaszczuk Government’s $100 million Resources Community Infrastructure Fund.
Deputy Premier and State Development Minister Steven Miles said the fund would deliver infrastructure in regional communities that would improve liability, support jobs and provide a boost to the economy as part of Queensland’s COVID-19 Economic Recovery Plan.
“According to the QRC the resources sector employs around 84,000 workers and directly supports 15,200 Queensland businesses,” Mr Miles said.
