The 32-year-old has admitted charges of child stealing, obtaining property by deception and theft. Azzopardi duped Melbourne couple Tom and Jazze Jervis into believing she was a qualified au pair named Harper Hernandez. While claiming to be from a rich American family she received $6500 while working for them for six months.

Police spokeswoman Acting Senior Sergeant Julie-Anne Newman said the 54-year-old had been charged with breaching a court order after an “investigation into several incidents in Prahran in mid-2020 and January 2021”. Ms Laidley, of Moonee Ponds, was bailed and will appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on August 26 this year. “As the matter is before the court it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time,” Sergeant Newman said in a statement provided to NCA NewsWire.

Nanny who pretended to be a pregnant 14-year-old and duped families pleads guilty to child-stealing

A 32-year-old woman who tricked families into believing she was a qualified nanny has pleaded guilty to child stealing.  Samantha Azzopardi pleaded guilty in Melbourne Magistrates Court to three counts of child stealing, obtaining property by deception and theft on Monday.  She had been facing 55 charges before agreeing to plead guilty to a handful of charges. Police had alleged Azzopardi posed as a qualified au pair named Harper Hernandez to dupe unsuspecting families out of $6,500 in wages over six months. She was also accused of posing as a nurse named Sakah and of possessing identification documents belonging to 19 different people, including a child.
