Melrose man, 64, dies following ATV crash By Charlie McKenna Globe Correspondent,Updated February 12, 2021, 10:28 a.m. Email to a Friend A 64-year-old Melrose man died Thursday night after suffering serious injuries in an all-terrain vehicle crash in the city north of Boston, police said. Melrose first responders were dispatched to the intersection of Upham Street and Wildwood Road around 11 p.m. Thursday, Melrose Police Chief Michael Lyles said in a statement. Upon arrival, first responders discovered the man suffering from serious injuries. He was the lone occupant of the vehicle when it crashed, police said. The man was transported to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Officers in Melrose were sent around 11 p.m. to the scene of a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Upham Street and Wildwood Road, according to a statement from Police Chief Michael Lyle and Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office. The man who was driving the ATV was found seriously injured. He was taken to MelroseWakefield Hospital, where he died from his wounds. His name has yet to be released to public, pending notification of next of kin, the statement said.

State Police: Man facing charge after fleeing scene of Route 1 crash

Wicked Local A Haverhill man will be summonsed on the charge of leaving the scene of a crash that caused property damage after his vehicle slammed into a guardrail at the Route 1/Route 99 split and he fled on foot, State Police said. Massachusetts State Police Media Communications Director David Procopio said calls came in from motorists at around 8:50 p.m. on Jan. 26 reporting a single-car crash at the Route 1 South split with Route 99. Procopio said the male driver, a 35-year-old Haverhill resident, fled on foot and was apprehended by Saugus Police near LA Fitness. An ambulance transported him to MelroseWakefield Hospital to be treated for injuries.
