The road toward financial stability and independence is not an easy one. However, with these resources at your fingertips, that goal is not just wishful thinking anymore.
Managing your own finances can be challenging, especially if you are an adult with a spouse, properties, and loans in your name. According to recent reports, only 30% of US households have a long-term financial plan. In addition, Americans with low levels of financial literacy are late on their mortgage payments 25% of the time. This is a cause for concern since managing a household and keeping finances in check is essential for a stable life.

One of the best personal finance books I have ever read is “The Total Money Makeover” by Dave Ramsey. First published in 2003, it has sold over 5 million copies and is currently the best-selling book in several finance categories at Amazon.
Ramsey’s goal in writing this book is to help individuals gain an understanding of how to efficiently and effectively get out of debt and attain their financial goals. If you follow his advice, you will be debt-free, fund your own retirement, pay off your home, pay for your kids’ college expenses and build wealth.
If it sounds too good to be true… it’s actually not. His methods to achieve financial success are solid, and they really work. According to Ramsey, tens of thousands of people have successfully used his strategies. Quite a few of their stories are included in this book.
The moment that changed it all
Even though I was almost certain there wasn t any possible way to tackle our debt, I couldn t shake the feeling that we d need more financial flexibility as a permanent part of our lives.
That feeling was soon validated with the birth of our first child. As soon as she came, I realized that I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom for as long as I possibly could. My husband was in agreement.
Sadly, I do remember the joy of giving birth
almost being overshadowed by the fear of not being able to achieve this dream. For many months after her birth, I dreaded when the clock would run out on our finances, forcing me to work outside the home.
