MACON, Ga. The Macon-Bibb Fire Department is investigating after a man died following a house fire Tuesday.
According to Bibb Coroner Leon Jones, it happened around 10:45 a.m. at the corner of Rose Avenue and Green Street in Payne City.
The man, identified as 60-year-old Terry Washington, was pulled out of the burning home.
He was taken to the hospital, where he later died from soot and smoke inhalation.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) The Macon-Bibb Fire Department battled a commercial structure fire in downtown Macon along Martin Luther King Junior Blvd, Thursday night.
Interim Fire Chief Shane Edwards says crews responded to the scene around 10:15pm after someone called 911 to report flames coming from the roof of the Tic Toc Room. Firefighters reported a wooden deck on the roof of the business was on fire.
Crews had to evacuate nearby lofts and shutdown a portion of MLK Jr. Blvd. from Poplar Street to Cherry Street to fight the flames. Chief Edwards says a team of firefighters also helped to evacuate pets from the lofts.

MACON, Ga. Macon crews battled a structure fire in downtown Macon Thursday night.
According to Interim Fire Chief Shane Edwards with the Macon-Bibb Fire Department, it happened on the roof of the building that houses the Tic Toc Room and BJ s Billiards at 408 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Firefighters evacuated residents from the lofts next door.
No one was hurt.

Fire crews arrived on scene Thursday evening, and focused their efforts on a multi-story building between Cherry Street and Poplar Street. The building is near Visit Macon and the 41NBC/WMGT studios.
Fire crews evacuated several buildings, bars and other businesses in the area. Firefighters also blocked off Martin Luther King Blvd. between Cherry Street and Poplar Street.
