Megan Montgomery’s family vows to fight domestic abuse: ‘She is not silenced’

Just a few weeks before Megan Montgomery was shot to death in the dark, empty parking lot near Mountain Brook High School, she posted on social media that she wanted to help others avoid the trap of abusive relationships.
“I want to show them the warning signs, why it is so hard to get out, to help them with the legal system, to help them leave sooner. I started writing my book in the hospital and I used it as therapy,’ the 31-year-old Montgomery wrote.

Immediately after our precious 31-year old daughter and sister Megan Montgomery was brutally murdered on December 1, 2019, local and national media were wanting to interview us.
As if we could speak at all without falling apart.
We were numb and in shock. We have purposefully not spoken publicly about her murder over the last 465 days.
That has been very difficult, not only because it was too painful to talk about, but also because we didn’t want to do anything that might negatively influence the future trial in any way.
