Apple is phasing out iCloud Documents and Data.
Apple will completely replace the service with iCloud Drive in May 2022.
Users will need to enable iCloud Drive to view files in iCloud Documents and Data.
Apple has confirmed that it will phase out iCloud Documents and Data, replacing it completely with iCloud Drive in May 2022.
In a support document spotted by MacGeneration Apple states:
In May 2022, iCloud Documents and Data, our old document syncing service, will be discontinued and completely replaced by iCloud Drive. If you use iCloud Documents and Data, your account will be migrated to iCloud Drive after that date.
The previously separate iCloud Documents & Data service will automatically be merged into Apple s iCloud Drive in May 2022 but users will have to take steps to continue seeing their documents.
Apple s iCloud Documents & Data is a system that automatically synchronizes data from different apps and makes it available across all devices. Confusingly, it s separate to the Documents & Desktop iCloud service that makes your documents folder and Mac desktop available, and it s different to iCloud Drive.
Beginning in May 2022, Apple is attempting to reduce the confusion and streamline the different parts of iCloud storage. The Documents & Data service will be discontinued and all the data in it will automatically be moved to iCloud Drive.

iCloud Drive on iPhone
Apple has announced an important service change that would have the iCloud Documents and Data capabilities moved to iCloud Drive.
In other words, because the common purpose of the two services is to allow for app data backups, Apple says it makes more sense for everything to be baked into iCloud Drive, which is already the more straightforward solution because it also provides access on mobile devices via the Files app.
So in May next year, Apple will replace iCloud Documents and Data with iCloud Drive, with the company telling users they need to enable the latter in order to access their files.

Software major Adobe has released the first version of Photoshop to run natively on Macs with the new Apple silicon M1 chip.
The internal tests by Adobe showed that Photoshop delivers significant performance gains across the application for customers using the latest Macs.
According to the company, Photoshop for M1 Macs completes most tasks 1.5 times faster than on Intel chips.
Photoshop will now be available on the MacBook Air, entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro and Mac mini.
“These great performance improvements are just the beginning, and we will continue to work together with Apple to further optimize performance over time,” Adobe’s Pam Clark said in a statement late on Wednesday.
