After three years of wearing the Scarlet and Black, Kyler Edwards has decided to enter the transfer portal and finish his college career for the Houston Cougars.
Edwards made this decision after announcing via Twitter that he would return to Tech after initially entering the portal following Chris Beards departure to Texas. He’s leaving Tech after a season that saw him in a more reduced role than we anticipated following his improvement in his sophomore season.
I love the
Last Chance U series from Netflix. The original school of East Mississippi Community College was legendary and I didn t think the show would ever be topped. Year two at the school was even better and featured former, and future, Red Raider Dakota Allen, who used his time at EMCC like a season abroad. The show then went to Independence, Kansas and Los Angeles, California for a much different spin on JUCO athletics.
The show wrapped on the football world and the show was going to end completely and then out of nowhere, the Last Chance U brand was back, except this time they were on the hardwood.

(Edit number 1: With Walker and Grady committing and some new big names added to the portal, we are going to do a quick update and call this version 1.1)
(Update 2: Some new big names in the portal as well as some guys Kansas has offered means it’s time for a new update)
(Update 3 - April 14: Our 2-4 guys are gone and 5th committed to Kansas, so it’s update time. Starting now, I am going to erase guys who have committed rather than crossing them out)
Can Kyler Edwards Actually Reach His Lofty Potential in Houston?
Kyler Edwards announced his move to the transfer portal after former head coach Chris Beard announced his decision to leave the program for the University of Texas. Then, when Mark Adams was announced as the head coach of Texas Tech Edwards announced on Twitter that he d stay at Texas Tech using the hashtag #RRFL meaning Red Raider for Life.
A few days later, Edwards deleted the tweet and Texas Tech basketball released a statement from Mark Adams thanking Edwards for his time at Texas Tech and that the talented junior would indeed remain in the portal.
