One of the things people do to dispose of certain items is to burn them, but this could cause some environmental and health impacts if you burn the wrong things. Smoke can carry harmful pollutants which can harm the air that we breathe. When you burn any type of item it will leave behind ash which gets carried off through the air and can pollute the soil, groundwater, river, lakes and streams. Burning anything outdoors can cause a wildfire if not doing it safely. Burning only approved materials and following state regulations can minimize the potential for these harmful effects.

The debate over climate change is over.
In the face of catastrophic and unprecedented natural disasters, coupled with the revelation that #Exxonknew; big business and government are finally admitting what we all see. Climate change is happening now. Meigs County is fortunate to be located in the Midwest, where the effects are not as harsh as some regions. Unfortunately, however, no region is exempt from the changes that have occurred and are still developing.
In a document titled “Preparing for the Health Impacts of Climate Change in the Midwest,” the CDC specifically lists “Vector-Borne Diseases” and “Water-Related Illness” as two main concerns for our region. Diabetes. Many around our area refer to this disease as ‘sugar’ or a ‘little bit of sugar’ and do not understand the severity of their disease. Diabetes is, in short, is a disease that affects a person’s ability to process glucose.
There are two types of diabetes mellitus. Type 1 diabetes means that the body (pancreas) is not producing any insulin and type 2 means the body is producing ineffective insulin. Insulin is the hormone that allows the body to process glucose. Think of glucose as the person at the door and insulin unlocks or opens the door. Without insulin, the glucose remains in the blood stream unable to be utilized by the body. When glucose levels are high it causes damage to the internal structures of the body. In fact, there are many systemic complications from Diabetes Mellitus (DM):
