After more than a decade of meticulous planning with his
team, it was Norway’s Kristian
Blummenfelt who was crowned the men’s Tokyo 2020
Olympic Triathlon Champion on Monday morning on Odaiba Bay,
delivering one of the most gutsy runs possible to take the
tape with a roar, at the end of a truly epic battle of
wills.
For much of the run, Great Britain’s Alex
Yee looked like he might just continue his remarkable
rise all the way to the top of the triathlon tree, only for
the inimitable Norwegian to put in one final and ultimately

TOKYO Canada s strategy of having Matthew Sharpe serve as Tyler Mislawchuk s domestique in the first two segments of the men s triathlon worked flawlessly at the Tokyo Olympics.
But there s no planning for a cramp.
Mislawchuk finished 15th in one hour 46 minutes 28 seconds at the event along scenic Tokyo Bay on Monday morning, repeating his final position from the Rio Games. Sharpe was 49th in 1:57.32.

For much of the run, Great Britain’s Alex Yee looked like he might just continue his remarkable rise all the way to the top of the triathlon tree, only for the inimitable Norwegian to put in one final and ultimately decisive charge, New Zealand’s 23-year-old Hayden Wilde hanging tough for a hard-earned bronze.
