The Start-Up Wife by Tahmima Anam ★★★☆☆
Tahmima Anam is best known as the award-winning writer of three novels (A Golden Age, The Good Muslim and The Bones of Grace), and less well-known as the executive director of a music technology startup called ROLI. An experience no doubt plumbed for her latest book, The Startup Wife, a tech industry-set reverse romcom in which a young Bangladeshi-American woman creates a social media network that gets out of control.
Michael Langley was on the order as an alternative to custody for burglary in May, last year. Durham Crown Court was told Langley committed the, “rather crude” break-in at shop premises in Claypath, Durham. Matthew Hopkins, prosecuting, said during the hours of darkness Langley used a brick to smash the front window of Durham Food Store before climbing into the premises. He then removed a quantity of cash, cigarettes and alcohol. The court was told the haul was valued at £1,600, “a significant sum” for a small business. Tony Davis, for Langley, said his offender manager’s report, “offers some glimmer of hope of him avoiding the path of recidivism, which appears to have plagued him.”

THE Cromwell Museum, in Huntingdon, is poised to re-open this month following the easing of lockdown restrictions – with some local horrible histories to thrill visitors.
After closing its doors for a second time in December 2020 due to the pandemic, the team at the museum has been working behind the scenes, to not only make the attraction Covid-safe to welcome back visitors from May 19, but has been running successful online lectures and educational events for school children.
As part of the Government s roadmap and further lockdown easing, museums, theatres, cinemas and indoor hospitality can now reopen, however, there are still some restrictions and social distancing measures in place.
