Mansfield City Schools To Receive $9 Million In COVID19 Relief Over 3 Years

Jan 20, 2021 The Mansfield City Schools are set to receive $9 million over the next 3 years in COVID-19 relief funds to assist the district for unexpected costs from the pandemic. RichandSource.com reports that district treasurer Tacy Courtright made the announcement this week that the money will come from the Elementary and Secondary Emergency Relief Fund. One of the biggest costs due to COVID-19 has been the need for more substitute teachers.  

MCS board authorizes $1 7 million in funding for lighting, stadium projects

Dec 16, 2020 The Mansfield City Schools board of education authorized funding for multiple improvement projects at Arlin Field during its Tuesday night meeting. According to Richland Source.com, The board passed a resolution authorizing financing for improvement and lighting projects at Arlin Field and Mansfield Senior High School. The board approved the two projects, which includes replacing the lighting at both the high school and football field, at its last meeting. The board also approved renovations for the stadium s concrete infrastructure. The resolution authorized the district to spend up to $1.7 million on the projects. District Treasurer Tacy Courtright stated said she has also applied for a $215,000 grant that could be used for the projects.

Survey shows modest improvement in public perception of Mansfield City Schools

Board members said they were generally pleased with the results of the survey.  “We’ve made a lot of very difficult decisions and it’s nice to see some positive results, said board president Renda Cline. Paul Fallon of Fallon Research and Communications shared the results of the survey, which was conducted between Nov. 17 and 21, at Tuesday s school board meeting. “I think we re on the right track, board member Gary Feagin said. I think we do need to dig into this a little further because we do have a couple levies coming up in the next few years.” Fallon Research and Communications surveyed 300 randomly-selected registered voters in the district, with a deliberate oversampling of parents with students currently enrolled in the district.
