This, after the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-X, through DOST Bukidnon forged partnership with the local government of Malaybalay City to increase the agricultural productivity and improve profitability of the marginal banana and abaca growers in the locality.
In a report, DOST Secretary Fortunato de la Peña said the initiative was part of the DOST-Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) project entitled “Upgrading of Banana and Abaca Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory Facility to Improve Productivity of Small-scale Farmers in Malaybalay City.”
He noted that the total project cost was P775,000 with a counterpart share from the LGU amounting to P300,000.
