The Centre has approved a proposal for the integration of communication and surveillance equipment to monitor activities on the Jammu border. Stretched over 500 km, the command and control network will be established at the International Border (IB) with the Border Security Force. UNITED NATIONS, July 14: An estimated 2,70,000 Afghans have been newly displaced since January due to insecurity and violence, the UN refugee agency has said, warning of a looming humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan as security concerns grow over Taliban fighters rapidly seizing control of large number of areas and the US troop withdrawal from the war-torn country.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is “warning of a looming humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan as the escalating conflict brings increased human suffering and civilian displacement.”
UNHCR spokesperson Babar Baloch said at a press briefing on Tuesday in Geneva that an estimated 2,70,000 Afghans have been newly displaced inside the country since January 2021 primarily due to insecurity and violence bringing the total uprooted population to over 3.5 million.
